DUBAI, 1 April 2022 – Expo 2020 Dubai’s workforce bid an emotional farewell to the final departing guests in the early hours of the morning before the three portals closed for the last time.

Tears were shed and touching memories shared among staff and visitors alike as the incredible 182-day event drew to a close, following a stunning line-up of unforgettable performances by international artists and extraordinary celebrations, for a fitting grand finale to the most diverse World Expo in the history of the event.

The first World Expo to take place in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region and the largest global gathering to take place since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai brought together 192 countries, and received over 23 million visits since it opened its gates on 1 October 2021.

Organised under the theme Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, Expo 2020’s doors may have closed but its commitment to building a meaningful long-term legacy that sets a benchmark for future World Expos will live on.
